Sandy Creek Park is located on the southeast side of B.A. Steinhagen Lake in the East Texas Pineywoods. The year-round campground features 71 sites with water and electric hookups, along with flush and pit toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and a day-use picnic shelter. On-site amenities include fishing docks, a boat ramp, a playground, a volleyball court, and paved park roads suitable for 3- to 5-mile bike rides. Visitors use the lake to target largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie, or launch canoes to explore the surrounding hardwood bottomlands and nearby state paddling trails.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.

Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. Most sites here have an electric hookup -- one sits on the water, most of them shaded. The B A Steinhagen Lake shoreline is 0.4 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 2 -- true dark-sky territory. The nearest town, Jasper, is 13 mi off.

September normals 6789°F, 5.0″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
