Peavy Cabin is a historic 1934 single-room log cabin situated at 5,900 feet along the North Fork John Day River. Accessible via unpaved roads, it sleeps four people and contains a wood heating stove, dining table, gas range, refrigerator, and dry sink. Outside, the grounds feature a picnic table, wood shed, vault toilet, and space for tent camping. Guests must bring all drinking water and supplies. The adjacent Peavy Trailhead connects directly to the North Fork John Day Wilderness and the Elkhorn Crest National Recreation Trail.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Mount Ruth stands 2,730 ft above the site, 2.0 miles southeast. North Fork John Day River runs 0.1 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Baker City, is 23 mi off.
