Set along the North Fork John Day River in a lodgepole pine forest, this campground features 14 tent/RV sites, 5 tent-only sites, 1 group site, 3 accessible vault toilets, and stock handling facilities in its north half. There is no drinking water or trash service. Sitting at the junction of the Blue Mountain and Elkhorn Scenic Byways, it acts as the eastern trailhead for the North Fork John Day River Trail #3022 into the North Fork John Day Wilderness. Salmon and steelhead spawn in the river seasonally, and historic gold mining remnants remain nearby.
