Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this historic two-story log cabin sits at 7,000 feet on the north shore of Anthony Lake. The fully equipped guard station features three bedrooms sleeping eight, electric lights, a propane heater, and a full bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower. The kitchen includes an electric stove, refrigerator, and complete cookware. Outside are a picnic table and fire ring. Adjacent to a public boat ramp, the cabin overlooks Gunsight Mountain and provides direct access to the 22.6-mile Elkhorn Crest Trail.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Gunsight Mountain stands 1,150 ft above the site, 0.8 miles south. The Anthony Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Baker City, is 23 mi off.
