Eldridge Guard Station is a primitive, rustic log cabin at 7,030 feet elevation in a meadow along Taylor Creek, set between the Madison and Gallatin mountain ranges. The uninsulated cabin sleeps up to six people and includes two cots, two futons, a table, chairs, a wood stove, a propane cooktop, and a propane refrigerator. Outside are an outhouse and a stock corral. There is no electricity or tap water; guests must filter creek or snow water and pack in firewood from June through September. Summer hiking and winter snowmobile trails run right from the cabin.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Eldridge Creek runs 0.3 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Taylor Peaks stands 4,258 ft above the site, 7.5 miles west. The nearest town, Big Sky, is 13 mi off.
