Wapiti Cabin is a primitive, rustic log shelter set at 7,000 feet in a meadow between the Madison and Gallatin mountain ranges near Wapiti Creek. The single-room interior sleeps up to four people on cots and contains a heating stove, wood cookstove, and a table with chairs. An outhouse stands outside, alongside a stock corral and hitching rail. No water or electricity is provided on-site. Nearby trailheads at Taylor Fork Road lead into the Cabin Creek Wildlife Management Area, offering mountain biking, hiking, and equestrian routes.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Little Wapiti Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. Wapiti Ridge stands 2,459 ft above the site, 4.1 miles south. The nearest town, Big Sky, is 15 mi off.
