Salthouse Branch Campground sits on the steep, wooded shores of the 2,900-acre Philpott Lake in Virginia's Blue Ridge foothills. The park offers 44 utility campsites with water and electric hookups, 46 primitive sites, and a reservable group picnic shelter. On-site facilities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station, a swim beach, a boat ramp, a dock, a playground, and an amphitheater. Two multi-use hiking paths—the 4.5-mile Dogwood Glen Trail and the 2.25-mile Laurel Ridge Trail—connect the campground to surrounding parks along the lake.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

The Philpott Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.6 miles off, a 111-site campground. Most of them shaded. Night skies measure Bortle 3 -- a dark rural sky. The nearest town, Stanleytown, is 6.5 mi off.

September normals 5880°F, 5.2″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
