Lake Bob Sandlin State Park - Fort Sherman Camping Area in TX -- Campground & RV Camping in Texas

Named for Fort Sherman, built in the 1830s to protect settlers, this camping loop sits on the northeast Texas shore of Lake Bob Sandlin's 9,000-acre lake. Fort Sherman offers electric campsites with 30-amp hookups and water access, plus restrooms with hot showers. The park encompasses 3.3 miles of wooded trails where two ecoregions meet, creating massive trees and tall grasses alongside excellent largemouth bass and catfish fishing from a lighted pier and boat ramp. A gift shop, kayak and fishing pole rentals, and a fish-cleaning station serve visitors. The lake was created in 1977 by the Fort Sherman Dam and is named after local businessman Bob Sandlin.
