Lake Bob Sandlin State Park - Primitive Camping Area in TX -- Campground & RV Camping in Texas

Backcountry hike-in camping in heavily wooded, flat terrain near Two-Acre Pond. Sixteen 100-square-foot primitive sites require hiking 1/4–1 mile from the parking area. Ground fires are prohibited; each site has access to a chemical toilet and water spigot. The area sits within Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, where two northeast Texas ecoregions meet on a 9,000-acre lake. The park features 3.3 miles of wooded trails through massive trees and tall grasses, excellent largemouth bass and catfish fishing from a lighted pier and boat ramp, and views of the lake created by the 1977 Fort Sherman Dam.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.

The Trout Pond shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. The nearest town, Pittsburg, is 8.4 mi off.
