Caretaker's Cabin sits at 5,000 feet elevation on a hillside in the Blue Mountains at the historic Fremont Powerhouse site, constructed in 1908. The two-story house sleeps up to 10 guests across two upstairs bedrooms and a parlor with futons. It includes a full kitchen, dining room, electric wall heaters, electric lights, and a bathroom with a flush toilet and claw-foot tub, with seasonal water from June through September and an outhouse for winter. Outside features a fire ring, picnic table, and lawn. Wilderness trails and fishing at Olive Lake are nearby, with fuel six miles away in Granite.

Road difficulty 1 of 5 -- an easy drive in. Recorded as maintained for passenger cars, gravel, pitching to 6%. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. North Fork Ruby Creek runs 1.2 mi off. Sheep Rock stands 816 ft above the site, 1.6 miles west. The nearest town, Baker City, is 33 mi off.

September normals 4671°F, 0.7″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
