Garnet Mountain Fire Lookout perches at 8,245 feet atop Garnet Mountain, offering panoramic vistas of the Spanish Peaks, Gallatin Range, and Gallatin River Valley. The 1962 structure sleeps four on bunk beds with mattresses and includes a wood stove for heating and cooking, a dining table, basic cookware, and eating utensils. Firewood is provided for the stove and the outdoor campfire ring, while a vault toilet sits outside. Hikers, mountain bikers, and off-road riders reach the tower via local trails. Guests must supply their own drinking water, bedding, and supplies.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
