Below Dam South Carolina Recreation Area is a day-use park along the Savannah River just below the J. Strom Thurmond Lake Dam. Set at 235 feet elevation in a mixed pine and hardwood forest, the wooded grounds feature group picnic shelters (one with electrical hookups), flush toilets, drinking water, a playground, a hiking trail, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp. Swimming is not permitted. The surrounding 70,000-acre lake supports boating, water sports, and fishing for bass, catfish, and crappie.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

The Clarks Hill Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. The nearest town, Evans, is 7.9 mi off.

September normals 6386°F, 3.6″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
