Buckboard Campground sits at 8,900 feet in the Manti-La Sal National Forest at the base of the Abajo Mountains. Surrounded by aspens and Gambel oaks, the campground features single-family sites and two 50-person group sites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Facilities include paved access along Forest Road 105, gravel parking spurs, seasonal drinking water, and two vault toilets. Trailheads for the Robertson's Pasture and Spring Creek trails begin nearby for hiking, fishing, and off-road driving, while the Abajo Loop State Scenic Backway passes directly by.
All 0.4 miles in are maintained for passenger cars. Gravel the whole way in (0.4 miles). Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Horsehead Peak stands 2,437 ft above the site, 1.7 miles southwest. Taylor Spring lies 0.2 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 12-site campground. The nearest town, Monticello, is 6.2 mi off.
