Sand Island Campground sits along the San Juan River near Bluff, serving as the primary launch point for the 102-mile river stretch to Clay Hills Crossing. The facility features two reservable group areas: Group Site A (near the boat ramp for 10–20 people) and Group Site B (for 15–40 people). Both include picnic tables, large fire grates, shade structures, drinking water, and vault toilets, but no hookups or dump stations. Ledges above the camp display ancient petroglyphs and pictographs, while Goosenecks State Park and Bears Ears National Monument sit nearby.
