Colorado Bend State Park offers back-to-nature camping in rugged limestone terrain two hours northwest of Austin at 1,025 feet elevation. The Colorado River runs through the park, flowing past Spicewood Springs swimming area and Gorman Falls, a 70-foot spring-fed waterfall. Camping options include drive-up, walk-in tent, and primitive hike-in sites; all have water access but no hookups, with compositing toilets throughout. Over 35 miles of trails wind through the park, and underground caves are available for guided tours.
