Primitive walk-in campground in the Hill Country with three campsites 50 yards from parking along West Verde Creek. Each site accommodates up to eight people with picnic tables, fire rings, water access, and chemical toilets. Located within 5,369 acres of rugged limestone terrain featuring eroded hills and mesas rising to 2,000 feet. Over 40 miles of multiuse trails traverse oak groves and creek bottoms for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Established from Louise Merrick's land donations (1976–1982), the area opened publicly in 1984 and is preserved to remain 'far removed and untouched by modern civilization.'
