Campground within 2,906-acre preserve in Texas Hill Country's Sabinal River valley, five miles north of Vanderpool. Upper canyon landscape features limestone hills and relict bigtooth maple trees—ecological remnants from the ice age that now grow nowhere else. Thirty developed campsites with water and electricity. Over 11 miles of rugged trails including a loop atop 2,200-foot cliffs. Fishing in Sabinal River and Can Creek. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and endangered golden-cheeked warblers. National Natural Landmark since 1980.
