Cochiti Recreation Area sits at 5,343 feet in the foothills of the Jemez Mountains within the Pueblo de Cochiti Reservation. The terrain is high-desert grassland with piñon and juniper. The campground has four loops: Buffalo Grove has water and electric hookups, Juniper offers electric with some water, and Elk Run and Ringtail are non-electric with spigots. Onsite features include a four-lane paved boat ramp, covered picnic sites, flush facilities, and a dedicated swim beach. The non-motorized lake supports paddling and fishing. Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is 5 miles away.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
