Las Huertas is a day-use picnic area set at 7,600 feet on the eastern slopes of the Sandia Mountains, shaded by aspen and fir trees. Las Huertas Creek flows through the site year-round, crossed by footbridges leading to dispersed picnic tables and grills. The main group facility is a covered shelter modeled after the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps design, supported by accessible vault toilets. Visitors use the site for bird watching, short walking trails, and exploring nearby attractions like the Sandia Man Cave. Overnight camping is not permitted.
