Sitting at 6,250 feet along the Trail Fork of Bear Creek, Bear Creek Cabin provides winter public stays at the base of the Madison Range. Surrounded by meadows, aspens, and Douglas firs, this two-room shelter sleeps four across a bunk bed and two single beds with mattresses. Indoor amenities include electricity, lights, a wood stove, a refrigerator, a stove, and an oven. A vault toilet sits 40 feet outside, and Bear Creek flows nearby. The location offers immediate access to winter trail networks for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, though visitors must bring drinking water.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Black Mountain stands 2,439 ft above the site, 1.3 miles east. Secluded here -- no through road within 3.7 miles, a single-site campground. Trail Fork Bear Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Big Sky, is 13 mi off.
