Spruce Group Campground sits next to St. Charles Creek near Lake Isabel at an elevation of 8,600 feet in the Wet Mountains, shaded by dense spruce trees. Designed for 40 overnight campers, the facility includes a paved loop road, a limited RV parking area, individual campfire rings, two 3-foot wide grills, a picnic shelter, a horseshoe pit, and a volleyball court. Amenities include hand-pump drinking water and an accessible double vault toilet. Lake Isabel allows non-motorized boating and trout fishing. Nearby routes include the Cisneros Trail and the Frontier Pathways Scenic Byway.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
