Hope Valley Campground sits at 7,300 feet among Jeffrey and lodgepole pines on the edge of Hope Valley, 40 miles south of Lake Tahoe. The West Fork Carson River flows nearby, providing rainbow and cutthroat trout fishing alongside local hiking and backpacking trails. Reconstructed for tent and RV use, the campground features single and double-family sites equipped with tent pads, picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, and food storage lockers. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, garbage service, and firewood sales.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Trimmer Peak stands 2,947 ft above the site, 1.8 miles south. 21 sit on the water -- most of them shaded. Night skies measure Bortle 3 -- a dark rural sky. The nearest town, South Lake Tahoe, is 3.5 mi off.

September normals 4072°F, 0.5″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
