Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how North Aspect LLC (doing business as “AnyRoost”) collects, uses, and protects your information.

AnyRoost is free to use without an account. We collect the minimum needed to run the service, and we do not sell your personal data. By using AnyRoost, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: When you register, our authentication provider Clerk collects your email address and name.
  • Payment information: If you subscribe to AnyRoost Pro, our payment processor Stripe collects your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Account data: We store your subscription status and saved spots so they remain available across devices.
  • Location: Device geolocation is used locally on your device to center the map and show your position. Your device coordinates are not transmitted to or stored by AnyRoost. Before you grant it, the map may open near the approximate city Cloudflare derives from your IP address; that estimate is returned to your browser and not stored.
  • Usage counters: When you view a page or use a feature (opening a place, choosing a search result, the text of a search that found nothing, switching a map lens, starting checkout), our server adds one to a daily counter for that event in our own database, along with a coarse bucket for where the visit came from (a search engine, a social site, or a link tag such as ?ref=reddit). The counters carry no IP address, account, or device identifier, so they cannot be tied to you.
  • Rate limits: To stop bulk scraping, we count some requests per IP address for up to 24 hours, then discard the count.
  • On your device: Your browser’s local storage keeps your last map view and filter choices. They are not sent to us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to provide and maintain the service, authenticate your account, process subscription payments, synchronize saved spots across devices, and communicate with you about your account or support requests. We do not use your information for advertising.

3. Third-Party Processors

AnyRoost relies on the following third parties, each of which processes your data under its own privacy policy:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and our database. Every request passes through it, so it receives your IP address, browser user agent, and the page or data requested, and keeps aggregate traffic logs.
  • Clerk for authentication (email address, name). Its sign-in script loads on every page, so it also receives your IP address and browser user agent when you are not signed in.
  • Stripe for payment processing (payment details, billing information).
  • Google Fonts serves the site’s typefaces, so Google receives your IP address, browser user agent, and our site’s address when a page loads.
  • Map tile servers send your browser the pieces of map it displays, so each receives your IP address, browser user agent, and which area of the map you are viewing: OpenFreeMap (the basemap), Amazon Web Services (terrain shading), and USGS The National Map (aerial imagery, when the satellite view is on, and aerial thumbnails on place cards).

We share only the data these providers need to perform their function. Following a link to Google Maps, an agency site, or another outside site sends you to that site under its own policy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes such as tax and accounting records.

5. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing us. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights over your data. We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law.

6. Children’s Privacy

AnyRoost is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
