Cave Mountain Lake Group Camp sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains around a seven-acre lake built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The tent-only site holds up to 30 campers and includes six movable picnic tables, two fire rings with grills, lantern posts, a serving table, a campfire circle, and a drinking water spigot. Flush toilets are across the road, and showers are located at the beach bathhouse. The lake features a sandy beach, designated swimming area, and fishing piers. Local trails include Panther Knob, with access to the nearby Appalachian Trail and local wilderness areas.

Road difficulty 2 of 5 -- a moderate drive in. Recorded as maintained for passenger cars, gravel, pitching to 12%, 17% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

The Cave Mountain Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Wildcat Mountain stands 1,472 ft above the site, 1.8 miles south. A group campground -- most of them shaded. Night skies measure Bortle 2 -- true dark-sky territory. The nearest town, Glasgow, is 6.1 mi off.

September normals 5779°F, 4.7″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
