2 of the 6.4 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly graded dirt, with 1 miles of dirt. Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~160 ft on the downhill side. Winds through 15 switchbacks. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch.

Marys Nipple stands 1,680 ft above the site, 1.3 miles west. A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off. A lake lies 0.6 mi off. The nearest town, Centerfield, is 16 mi off.
