Cowpuncher Guard Station in UT -- Campground & RV Camping in Utah

Cowpuncher Guard Station sits at 8,000 feet in a meadow surrounded by pine and aspen groves within the Dixie National Forest, 20 miles northeast of Escalante. Pine Creek runs through the site, offering trout fishing. The furnished cabin includes bunk beds, a full bed, a table, a wood cook stove, a propane cooktop, a seasonal cold-water sink, and battery lanterns, with a vault toilet, picnic table, and fire ring outside. The site provides direct trail access to the Great Western Trail and sits minutes from the scenic Hells Backbone Road and Posey Lake.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 30 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
