Garner State Park encompasses 1,774 acres of scenic Texas Hill Country terrain along 2.9 miles of the cool, clear Frio River near Concan. Hilltops average 1,800 feet elevation offering panoramic views, and the park provides camping via water-only sites, full-hookup sites, screened shelters, and historic cabins. Visitors swim or float the Frio on inner tubes, paddle boat, fish from shore without license, and hike 16 miles of scenic trails. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1940s, the park retains historic structures including a dance pavilion and hosts one of North America's largest Mexican free-tailed bat colonies, accessible via Frio Bat Flight evening tours.
