South Primitive Area is a 100-acre wooded camping zone within Dinosaur Valley State Park along the Paluxy River in Glen Rose. Semi-rocky, wooded terrain supports equestrian use and hiking trails. The river bed displays Cretaceous-era dinosaur footprints accessible to visitors. The park offers fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and mountain biking across 20 miles of trails. Glen Rose nearby serves as the "Dinosaur Capital of Texas" with museums and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.
