Located in the Texas Panhandle, this 28,000-acre park centers on Palo Duro Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the country. The canyon's colorful rock formations were carved by the Red River and its tributaries over millennia. The Juniper Camp Area offers RV sites with water and electricity, with restrooms and showers in walking distance, plus the nearby Tasajillo Pavilion available for rent. Over 30 miles of trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Historic log cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during 1933-1937 remain on-site. The area was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1976.
