Kickapoo Cavern State Park is a lightly-developed 6,368-acre park in elevated southwestern Texas (1,580–2,002 feet elevation) northwest of Brackettville. The park features 20 known caves, including the 1,400-foot Kickapoo Cavern and Stuart Bat Cave, which hosts thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats from March through October. The landscape is cedar and oak scrubland with panoramic vistas from trails like Armadillo Lookout. The Indigo Creek group camping area accommodates 30 people; individual sites with hookups are also available. Trail miles total 32 for hiking and mountain biking, and approximately 240 bird species have been documented. Saturday cave tours are available by reservation.
