Lake Whitney State Park spreads across 23,500 acres on prairie dotted with wildflowers and oak groves near Whitney, Texas. Elevation ranges from 533 to 574 feet. Camping ranges from full hookups to screened shelters and cabins. The lake supports largemouth, striped, and white bass plus blue catfish, with boat ramps and a fish cleaning shelter. Hiking and biking trails cross the landscape. Swimming areas and boat rentals provide family recreation. Wildlife includes deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, and bald eagles. The park is accessible from Dallas, Fort Worth, and Waco, and reaches capacity during peak season (March–October).
