Wetlands birding and nature reserve, one of nine World Birding Center sites. The North Complex (part of Camp Thicket) provides overnight group lodging for up to 80 people with full kitchen and dining facilities. The 230-acre park features nearly 5 miles of trails through reclaimed wetlands, ponds, woodlands, and South Texas thorn scrub. The park documents 346 bird species, including subtropical species found nowhere else in the U.S. north of the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Also home to alligators, bobcats, and numerous dragonfly and butterfly species.
