Village Creek State Park, 10 miles north of Beaumont on the edge of the Big Thicket, sits along Village Creek, one of Texas' few free-flowing waterways. The park offers tent and RV campsites, cabins, and group camping areas set in bottomland terrain. Eight miles of trails wind through the landscape for hiking and mountain biking, with canoe and kayak launches providing paddle access to the creek. Fishing for catfish, bass, and sunfish is popular here. Alligators, abundant wildlife, and diverse plant life make this a destination for nature study and bird watching in the Big Thicket ecosystem.
