Palmetto State Park is a botanical wonderland featuring dwarf palmettos and tropical vegetation in Central Texas at 292-foot elevation, situated along the San Marcos River with an oxbow lake, artesian springs, and swamps nearby. Tent sites, RV sites, cabins, and a group site provide lodging options. Facilities include a Civilian Conservation Corps-built picnic pavilion with an air-conditioned kitchen, a fishing pier at Oxbow Lake, hiking and biking trails, geocaching areas, and loaner fishing equipment for anglers.
