Overflow camping area within 2,013-acre Galveston Island State Park on the barrier island between Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Protects dunes, estuaries, wetlands, brackish ponds, and beaches. Diverse coastal habitat supports over 300 bird species and mammals including white-tailed deer, raccoons, coyotes, and armadillos. Access to numerous trails for wildlife viewing and scenery. Bay and gulf water access available.
