Brazos Bend State Park spreads across 4,897 acres of bottomland prairie and coastal forest draped in Spanish moss, 45 miles southwest of Houston. Multiple lakes and wetlands support abundant wildlife—over 300 bird species and alligators are commonly sighted. The park offers campsites, screened shelters, and cabins, with 37 miles of trails including accessible paved paths and 13 miles of equestrian routes. Shore and pier fishing require no license, while nearby attractions include the George Observatory, Varner-Hogg Plantation Historic Site, and George Ranch Historical Park.
