Built in 1936, this historic four-room cabin sits at 3,700 feet in the Malheur National Forest, offering views of the Middle Fork John Day River. The structure sleeps six with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, stove, table, electric lights, and electric heat. A vault toilet is located outside, but there is no running water on site, so guests must bring their own. Visitors can fish for trout and steelhead on the river or explore nearby back roads and hiking trails leading into the 25,000-acre Vinegar Hill / Indian Rock Scenic Area in the Greenhorn Range.
