Bullards Beach State Park sits at the confluence of the Coquille River and the Pacific Ocean near Bandon, offering direct beach access from a bridge on US-101. The park's iconic feature is the Coquille River Lighthouse, built by the U.S. Coast Guard in 1896 and operated until 1939. Named after Robert Bullard, an early settler who established commercial operations at the river mouth, the park was assembled between 1962 and 1985 through purchases from various owners, including the Bureau of Land Management. The site preserves both the dramatic river-ocean confluence landscape and Oregon's maritime heritage.
