Trail Creek Cabin, built in 1924 as the original Bozeman District ranger station, sits in the Gallatin Mountain foothills at 6,200 feet on a meadow edge by an intermittent creek. Accessible only by trail, the cabin sleeps four on bunk beds. Facilities include a wood heat stove, propane cookstove, propane lantern, table, chairs, outdoor campfire ring, vault toilet, and a four-animal horse corral. Water and electricity are not available. The surrounding trail system connects the Bozeman and Yellowstone Districts, offering access to alpine lakes, OHV loops, and winter ski routes.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. Bald Knob stands 1,524 ft above the site, 2.5 miles south. The nearest town, Bozeman, is 13 mi off.
