Built in 1925 in Paradise Valley at 5,800 feet, Big Creek Cabin sits in a flat spruce and fir clearing, 50 feet from Big Creek. It features five rooms and two porches, sleeping up to 11 people on bunk beds. Facilities include a wood heat stove, wood cook stove, propane lantern, table, chairs, an outdoor campfire ring, vault toilet, and a corral holding six stock animals. Water and electricity are not available. An adjacent trailhead leads into the Gallatin Range for hiking and horseback riding, while Big Creek offers trout fishing, and the area supports winter skiing.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Secluded here -- the nearest through road is 2.5 miles off, a single-site campground. Lewis Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Hyalite Peak stands 4,618 ft above the site, 5.4 miles north. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Pray, is 15 mi off.
