Built in the 1920s, Twin Lakes Cabin is a one-room wood-frame shelter on the shore of 75-acre Twin Lakes at 7,200 feet in the Beaverhead Mountains. Sleeping four guests on a bunk bed and two cots, the cabin includes a wood stove, propane cook stove, propane lantern, basic cooking utensils, and an outhouse vault toilet. Firewood is supplied from mid-September through mid-June, and a hand pump provides seasonal water from June to September. Nearby trails include the four-mile Big Lake Creek Trail with links to the Continental Divide Trail.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Sits on broad, near-level ground.
Hirschy Mountain stands 3,154 ft above the site, 2.7 miles south. Secluded here -- no through road within 3.7 miles, a single-site campground. Twin Lakes lies 0.1 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Salmon, is 19 mi off.
