Grasshopper Campground sits at 6,946 feet elevation among lodgepole pines along the Pioneer Mountain Scenic Byway in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The site provides 20 first-come, first-served individual campsites and one reservable group site fitting two to three trailers. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, a group charcoal/wood grill, vault toilets, hand pumps for drinking water, and bear-resistant food storage bins. The area provides access to Crystal Park and local ATV trails.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Hot Springs Creek runs 0.2 mi off. Maverick Mountain stands 1,558 ft above the site, 1.9 miles west. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.2 miles off, a 21-site campground. The nearest town, Dillon, is 29 mi off.
