U.S. Army Corps of Engineers allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.

Canal Campground sits on a narrow peninsula overlooking Lake Barkley and the navigation canal that links it to Kentucky Lake. Campers can view dam operations and passing boat traffic directly from the site. The grounds feature electric campsite hookups, flush toilets, hot showers, a designated swimming beach, a boat ramp, a playground, and picnic pavilions. A fishing float is available for water access, and a short on-site hiking trail winds through the property, where eagles and white-tailed deer are frequently present.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

The Lake Barkley shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.7 miles off, a 115-site campground. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. Most sites here have an electric hookup -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Calvert City, is 8.6 mi off.

September normals 6083°F, 3.4″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
