Sam Owen Campground occupies a forested peninsula of pine and cedar at 2,000 feet on the eastern shore of Lake Pend Oreille. Sharing the peninsula with the Sam Owen Game Preserve, the grounds feature a swimming beach, a boat ramp and dock, paved overflow parking, an amphitheater, drinking water, accessible flush toilets, and a dump station. Campsites lack electric hookups, but an electric group shelter is on site. Campers have access to the half-mile Sam Owen Trail #4 overlooking Owens Bay, alongside fishing for northern pike, trout, and kamloops.
