Big Oaks Recreation Area is a 12-acre day-use site set on a grassy slope with pine and hardwood shade along Hartwell Lake. On-site facilities include a two-lane boat ramp, a courtesy dock, a comfort station, a playground, 26 picnic sites, and a large picnic shelter equipped with water and electric service. The area serves as the entry point to a 2.75-mile paved walking and biking trail running along the Georgia embankment of Hartwell Dam, providing access for swimming, boating, and lake recreation.
