Transfer Campground sits at 8,500 feet in an aspen forest within San Juan National Forest, 11 miles north of Mancos, Colorado. The layout includes 12 first-come, first-serve individual sites with small parking spaces suitable for minor RVs, plus one reservable group site with five double tables and cooking grills. Two vault toilets serve the facility. Horses are restricted from the main campground, but dedicated corrals with five campsites sit directly across Forest Road 561. The location sits near multiple trailheads, including the Aspen Loop Trail for motorized ATVs and mountain bikes.

0.1 of the 0.9 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Gravel the whole way in (0.9 miles).

West Mancos River runs 0.2 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 17-site campground. La Plata Mountains stands 4,311 ft above the site, 6.8 miles east. The nearest town, Mancos, is 9.5 mi off.
