Palisades Horse Camp in CO -- Campground & RV Camping in Colorado

Palisades Horse Camp sits at 8,300 feet elevation in the San Juan National Forest near Williams Creek, 30 miles north of Pagosa Springs. The equestrian facility offers single and double campsites set in a pine, spruce, and fir forest. Campsites feature two-section corrals with feeding bins, hitching racks, and a shared water tank, along with vault toilets and drinking water. The Williams Creek Trail originates directly at the campground, providing horseback riders and hikers direct access into the adjacent Weminuche Wilderness and across the Continental Divide.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 20 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Cimarrona Peak stands 3,797 ft above the site, 2.7 miles northwest. Williams Creek runs 0.3 mi off. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.4 miles off, a 12-site campground. Most of them shaded. The nearest town, Pagosa Springs, is 21 mi off.
