Half Moon Bay State Beach welcomes long-distance hikers and cyclists through its enroute camping program, available one night only on a first-come basis at Francis Beach. The facility features shared picnic tables, food lockers, and fire rings. Located on a protected cove south of Pillar Point Harbor, the sandy beach overlooks offshore waters famous for Mavericks, hosting some of California's biggest waves. The broader Half Moon Bay beach complex spans 4 miles with fishing, surfing, and coastal trail access.
