Washburn Campground occupies a windswept plateau at Hearst San Simeon State Park, rising roughly a mile inland from the central California coast near Cambria. The 68 sites sit high above the Pacific, overlooking the Santa Lucia Mountains with ocean vistas, each with a fire ring and picnic table. Water spigots, flush toilets, and a sanitation station serve the campground. A 3.3-mile trail threads the adjacent San Simeon Natural Preserve, passing scenic overlooks and interpretive panels on local wildlife. The setting combines coastal views with the shaded wind protection of the hilltop locale.
