El Prado Group Campground sits at 5,600 feet in the pine and oak woods of the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area. The facility offers five distinct group sites accommodating 30 to 50 people and RVs up to 40 feet, featuring drinking water, flush and vault toilets, and a large parking area. The campground houses the historic 1911 El Prado Ranger Cabin and sits adjacent to the Laguna Meadow Trail system and the Pacific Crest Trail. A section is fenced off to protect the habitat of the endangered Laguna Skipper butterfly.

Little Laguna Lake lies 0.1 mi off. A group campground -- most of them shaded. Monument Peak stands 789 ft above the site, 2.0 miles east. The nearest town, Pine Valley, is 4.5 mi off.
